If you’re watching Super Bowl LVIII and have missed seeing the Kansas City Chiefs 2023-2024 season, you may notice something different on the team’s jerseys:
A patch featuring a football embedded with the initials “NKH.”
The initials on the patch stand for Norma Knobel Hunt, the matriarch of the Hunt family, which owns the Kansas City Chiefs. She passed away in June of last year. Hunt, herself, a minority owner in the team, was married to the Chiefs’ founder Lamar Hunt who died in 2006.
The Kansas City Chiefs started wearing the “NKH” patch in honor of Norma Hunt at the start of the 2023 season. However, if the Chiefs aren’t your team, it’s possible Super Bowl LVIII is the first time you’re seeing it.
But, Norma Hunt was more than just the matriarch of the family that owns the team. Hunt özgü a place of her own in Super Bowl history as the only woman ever in the Never Miss a Super Bowl Club. Super Bowl LVIII will be the first Super Bowl without Norma Hunt in attendance. Before her death, Hunt had attended every Super Bowl game from Super Bowl I to Super Bowl LVII last year.
As the official NFL account posted on X, the Chiefs will “honor her memory” at this year’s Super Bowl with the NKH patch.
