In the trailer for Pablo Berger’s Robot Dreams, the real treasure is absolutely, positively, the home-delivered, DIY friends we literally made along the way.
Set in ’80s Manhattan and based on Sara Varon’s graphic novel, the Spanish director’s dialogue-free, animated film follows a lonely dog who decides to order and build himself a buddy. A tale of inseparable bond between canine and robot through the streets of New York, Robot Dreams gifts this unlikely pair the summer of a lifetime.
One thing about summer though? It always comes to an end. (Ooft, good feeling’s gone.)
Robot Dreams premiered at Cannes Film Festival last year, then hit the Toronto International Film Festival. It’s streaming on Paramount+ (with the Showtime plan) on Jan. 19.
